Twix ReCreated
By Crystal Cerrato
These chocolatey homemade Twix bars are SO dreamy you’ll want to eat the whole batch! While these are not considered low calorie, you can control the quality of ingredients that you use so that you can indulge in this delicious sweet treat without worrying about additives, refined sugars or artificial ingredients.
You’ll need:
1 cup Almond Flour
1/2 cup Honey (raw and local if you can find it)
1/2 cup Cashew Butter
1/4 cup Maple Syrup (reduce sugar by adding less; sugar alternatives not recommended)
1 cup Dark Chocolate Chips (reduce sugar by choosing 80% cacao or higher)
1 tablespoon of coconut oil
Flaky Salt
- Combine almond flour, a sprinkle of salt and honey. Press into a parchment paper lined baking dish. If the consistency is crumbly, add more honey until a base forms. Set it in freezer to cool while prepping the filling.
- For the filling, combine cashew butter, maple syrup and a spinkle of salt. (tip: lightly heat the mixture to make it easier to spead) Spread over the base in an even layer. Place in the freezer for a couple of hours, or overnight.
- Remove the frozen base from the dish and cut into Twix sized strips.
- In a separate bowl, melt chocolate chips and coconut oil in the microwave or on the stove, stirring frequently to prevent burning, until melted through.
- Coat each strip in chocolate and sprinkle with flaky salt. (This step can get messy!) Arrange on a parchment paper lined serving plate or tray, and return to the freezer to chill for 10-20 min. Can be stored in the refrigerator for 1 week, or freezer for 2 weeks. ENJOY :)
